Community Supported Film
Founding Director
Greater Boston Area
Michael Sheridan founded Community Supported Film in 2010. CSFilm strengthens the documentary filmmaking capacity in crisis and post-crisis communities where the dissemination of objective and accurate information is essential. Local women and men are trained to produce stories on their community’s socioeconomic issues. The films are screened in public engagement campaigns to influence local and international perspectives on sustainable paths to a more peaceful and equitable world. Inspired by Community Supported Agriculture, supporters of Community Supported Film invest in local documentary training and production. The stories told nourish an understanding of the world that isn’t available in the mainstream market.

Michael has been making films on international issues of social and economic development for 20 years, and has taught filmmaking at the community and university level for 15 years. He co-founded the documentary production unit at Oxfam America, and served as a Senior Fulbright scholar in Indonesia.
