John Pinter is an independent consultant who works with small businesses, nonprofits, education and government. He served as an emergency planner with the Red Cross and with local entities for over 12 years, and brings a passion for readiness as a means of developing resilience and teamwork within organizations. He is the Executive Director for United Religious Community of St. Joseph County and Welcoming Michiana.
John has served as an executive in the non-profit sector, and has over 30 years of experience in management and leadership in non-profit organizations. While a CEO, John developed new services to organizations involved in emergency management and planning, disability and volunteer development organizations in Illinois, Utah, California and Indiana. John’s particular areas of experience and specialty include strategic planning, emergency planning, health care, collaboration, and adapting collective impact techniques to the non-profit sector.
John teaches in the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, Nonprofit Executive Program. He has also conducted training and technical assistance in 28 states and the District of Columbia. He has provided training in Strategic Planning for nonprofits for individual organizations as well as community foundations in Indiana. He has provided the leadership in creating strategic plans for over 25 different organizations.

John’s passion for connecting international communities has been developed through engagement with hosting six classes of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leadership Initiative and three groups of the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI), as well as Open World visits to South Bend from Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine.
John has an MBA from the University of Utah, and a BA in Political Science from the University of Notre Dame. He also holds continuing education certificates from the Mendoza College of Business, University of Notre Dame and Indiana University’s School of Philanthropy. He lives in South Bend, Indiana, with his wife, who have three adult children.
